Ripped Denim

Hello everyone,

As mentioned in the blog posts seen here and here, I’m trying my best not to “break the bank”. Sticking to New Year resolutions can be difficult, but I’m determined to not give up. Don’t get me wrong, I know there is NO WAY that I can cut out shopping all together but I’ll give it a shot…

I’m featuring pieces today that I’ve had for more than year (minus the purse, which was gifted). I know it sounds silly, but whenever I go out for a special occasion, I tend to have the urge to buy a new outfit. Thanks to my resolution, I decided not to make a trip to the mall and “shop in my closet” instead. I ended up finding these ripped denims that I had forgotten about… (pics seen below and they were UNDER $40 – I’ve linked some that are similar if you’re in the need of buying a new pair).

For the most part, I consider myself a “budget friendly” consumer, however, I can make adjustments to my spending habits when necessary. For example, instead of going to the mall on my lunch break I’ll go to Starbucks to read or work on my blog. This is difficult for me because the mall is extremely close to my office.

Another task that I’ve been meaning to accomplish, is cleaning out my closet. I know by doing this I’ll find random pieces of clothing that I had forgotten about – which is almost as satisfying as shopping right?! Well…maybe not, but at least it’s saving me money and I’m sticking to one of my goals this year.

How are you doing with your New Year resolutions? Please share, I would love to know!

  5. Not shopping is SUCH a hard resolution. I’ve kind of been in this boat since we’re living in Germany – since we have to eventually bring everything back home I have to really limit what I buy or we’ll have like 10 checked bags. I think the life of a traveling hockey wife is probably not well paired with the life of a style blogger. hah! In a way it’s nice because it forces you to be creative with what’s in your closet. I am lovinggg the cozy oversized sweater here and the way you styled it with those leopard heels – super cute look!

Oh my goodness Annessa, I had NO idea you were a WAG (wives and GF’s of athletes)! My husband use to play professonal baseball so I totally know where you are coming from. Reading your blog and following you on Instagram I wouldn’t have known you were only able to pack so little. You dress so well and always look great! KUDOS to you :)

  6. I’ve been wanting that purse for so long – what do you think of it?

    • Stay Styled says:

Hey there Maggie, I LOVE the purse! I know it’s a bit of an investment however, D&B is a classic brand. Plus the quality is amazing :)

  7. Great outfit! Love those leopard heels. I recently went through my closet and found some fabulous sweaters tucked away that I haven’t worn in forever. Now they’ve been on major repeat. Making up for lost time, I guess!

  8. 😍Absolutely stunning look, and your bag is gorgeous, is it like a bucket bag because I’ve been searching for one that fits my style but also can hold a lot of stuff I tend to carry the world in my purse lol

Hey there, the purse is actually more like a travel bag. It’s pretty big and holds a ton of stuff, great for short trips. I know that their brand (which I linked) carries bucket bags that look like the one in this picture. You should def check them out :) Thanks for stopping by!
