“Trail Mix”

Now that my wedding is six months away, I’ve been trying my best to eat healthier and work out more. All of my life I’ve been an active person from competitive swimming, cheerleading, (yes, I think cheerleading is a sport!) and multiple boot camp classes. Now, I mostly stick with boot camps and trips to the gym. Sometimes it’s hard to stay motivated because these routines can seem redundant. One of my favorite alternative workouts is to go hiking to different places.

Luckily, Orange County has many different trails to go running or hiking on. “The San Clemente Trail” happens to be one of the best/long-stretching trails around. I’ve mentioned it a few times on my blog (here) just as a refresher for you in case you’ve missed it.

My fiancé and I love this trail because it’s right next to the beach and has a great path for walkers and joggers. I’ve shared a few pictures so you can see how beautiful the scenery is every time we go there to exercise.

How do you like to mix up your workouts? Pilates, yoga, spin or Barre classes? I’m interested to know! Thanks for stopping by and your comments are always appreciated!

  1. Wow it probably doesn’t even feel like you’re working out with that view! I recently took my first Soul Cycle class and loved it! The instructor was so spirited and encouraging that the time flew!

It really doesn’t feel like I’m working out when I’m next to the beach. The scenery is always so pretty and so much to look at.

I’ve heard so many great things about Soul Cycle. Some of my friends “swear” by it. One of these days I’ll have to try it out!

  2. I’m not a huge fan of hiking but i do enjoy it from time to time! i need to get my butt into shape!
I really like pilates! it helped me lose a few pounds.

      Hey pretty lady,

I really need to try pilates. I’ve heard nothing but great things about the classes.

  3. While I was never a cheerleader, it drives me crazy when people say cheerleading isn’t a sport! I’m not very good at the whole workout thing, but going on scenic trail run (or, really walks) is a favorite of mine as well :)

      Hey there Mili,

I’m so happy you agree with me! It would literally drive me crazy because my team and I would practice for hours working on our tumbling and stunting. We would always place at Regionals and Nationals (basically equivalent to NFL playoffs) 😉

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I’m really lovin’ those shorts. It looks so cool and it fits you perfectly.

  5. It’s true! Cheerleading is a sport 😉 I am not a cheerleader but I was pretty active myself. I played volleyball and used to join tennis tournaments. That was a long time ago, though. I kinda had depression recently due to my weight gain. I am pretty short and I never went above 90 lbs. Just 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with an inherited health condition. One of the symptoms is losing weight. But I am one of the few who had it in reverse, meaning, I GAINED a lot. From 90 lbs to 140 lbs. From extra extra small to Large. I have to dispose all of my clothing because nothing won’t fit. I was devastated. And the funny part is, I cannot exercise because my condition prohibits my heart from doing so. What I have is incurable. But I was able to get back up my feet, took my medication religiously and despite warnings from my doctors, I run every afternoon even deadlift (but I see to it that my heart can take it). Coincidentally, I am currently writing about my story for my next blog since I met a few people who has the same dilemma as I am 😉 I am wishing I have that beautiful view when I run! The beach always relaxes me! xo.

    Much love,

      Hey there Sugar,

First off, you’re such a strong person and I can’t wait to read your story on your blog. I love that you stayed positive throughout your rare condition. I think living an active lifestyle is important and I think it’s great that you do too. I know people will totally relate to your story and will appreciate everything you have to say. Thanks for all the kind words and stopping by :)
